Impact of reverse logistics on supply chain performance

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to analyse the impact of reverse logistics on order and inventory variance amplification in a single-echelon supply chain (SC) and to propose a new order policy for dampening such amplification. Design/methodology/approach – A general review of the literature on sustainable operations and on the impact of reverse logistics on SC performance provides the foundation for the study. The authors use difference equation math approach for modelling and analysing a closed SC. Electrostatic interaction of a solute with a continuum. Improved description of the cavity and of the surface cavity bound charge distribution.

Algorithms for a finer description of cavities in continuous media and for a more efficient selection of sampling points on the cavity surface are described. Applications to the evaluation of solute surface and volume and to the calculation of the solute-solvent electrostatic interaction energy, as well as of the cavitation energy are shown as examples.

Experimental research regarding the study of surface quality of aluminum alloys processed through milling

The aim of this paper is to present the necessary steps to conduct a design of experiment with application on the aluminum alloy surface quality obtained by end-milling process. The machined surface quality is influenced by the cutting process parameters, and especially by their variation. The research methods used in this paper are the Taguchi method - to determine the cutting parameters influence, on the surface quality, and the full factorial design of experiment to confirm the results obtained by Taguchi’s method and to determine the percentage of the parameters influence involved in the process.

The feast of St. Joseph as well as an important and heartfelt religious celebration is in Salemi above all the "feast of the loaves"beautiful achievements of high artistic craftsmanship whose wisdom is handed down in the families and in the associations of women who for many months work to produce the enormous quantity of small and large forms of bread to cover the votive constructions that welcome the ritual of dinner.Thus the idea of proposing an "Ecomuseum of wheat and bread" in the Jesuit College was born enhancing and re-opening a space of great historical-architectural interest to the public. As part of the consolidated collaboration of the Municipality of Salemi with the Department of Architecture professors and students worked on a strategic design project for museum set-up and communication also open forms of participation and sharing with the various territorial actors in a sort of 'social conversation' with the protagonists and skills in the field. The projects prepared for "Palermo South-East" are the result of a Graduate Laboratory structured through meetings seminars specialist communications critical exhibitions which - in a shared strategy - saw each student elaborate their work in comparison with others actors of the same Laboratory. The research on "urban projects" was set so that each graduating student was made aware of the projects carried out in the same geographical area by the colleagues who had preceded it so as to be able to operate in continuity and contribute to formulating a unitary reasoning in which each project constituted continuation verification or even variant of the previous ones. These coordinated works have pursued two fundamental objectives: the strengthening of infrastructures and the establishment of specialized public buildings with superior functions aimed at requalifying and regenerating various critical situations with particular attention to the relationship between context and life scenarios. Thus each designer while dealing with a main functional program simultaneously deals with various issues such as the rationalization of the road system the redevelopment of existing buildings the design and refunctionalization of urban services (for example the transformed Central Station in the hotel or the project of a great Mosque)several degree theses have addressed as the main theme or as a question in the background the design of a new bed for the Oreto river and the relative establishment of a park facing it.
